POS Integrated Weighing Scales enable the checkout cashier to efficiently weigh and price products to add to the consumers bill. They are used at supermarket checkouts, greengrocers, delicatessen, butchers and fishmongers. They can also be used at pet food and accessory stores where items are sold by weight.

Typically, the EPoS software maintains a database of products sold by weight, together with the Per Kg unit price. The operator selects the required product from an on-screen menu, the item is placed on the POS scale for weighing, the price is automatically calculated and the purchase is added to the bill.

POS Integrated Weighing Scales are ideal for loose items, fresh produce such as meat, fruit and veg, and other such items which are sold by weight but not pre-packaged or pre-priced.

They are an alternative to, or used in addition to, Label Printing Scales. POS integrated scales are much more efficient than stand-alone Price Computing Scales which then require duplicate key-entry on 2 systems.

Some models of POS Integrated Weighing Scales, such as the Datalogic Magellan series, also include an integrated barcode scanner thus providing a space-saving multi-purpose retail solution for weighed items and barcoded items.

Most trade-approved integrated scale models for retail use are available in 6kg capacity. Some models are available in 15kg and 30kg versions.
